Can you get DLSS on Radeon now? Unofficially, yes. Version 0.8.0 of DLSS-NR-on-AMD, a community project by developer Daniel Blanco (danielblnc), adds NVIDIA's Ray Reconstruction and DLSS Frame Generation, including Multi Frame Generation up to 4X, to AMD Radeon RX 7000 and RX 9000 graphics cards. With DLSS Super Resolution and DLSS 5 Neural Rendering already supported, VideoCardz says all four main DLSS technologies now have working, unofficial implementations on Radeon. Wccftech reported the same release.
Has NVIDIA or AMD responded? Neither company has commented publicly in the coverage we reviewed, and VideoCardz points out that the modders did this without help from either one. This is a fan-made project, not an official AMD or NVIDIA feature.
What does the DLSS on Radeon mod actually add?
According to both reports, version 0.8.0 brings:
- Ray Reconstruction, NVIDIA's AI denoiser for ray-traced effects, using a native implementation of NVIDIA's Model F. Until now, Radeon owners mostly relied on AMD's FSR Ray Regeneration or standard denoisers, Wccftech notes.
- DLSS Frame Generation, including Multi Frame Generation up to 4X, according to the developer.
- Super Resolution (DLSS 4.5 upscaling), with support for Models M and L.
- DLSS 5 Neural Rendering, which is where the project started.
- NeuralHub, a new manager that handles game detection, the required DLL files and per-feature toggles through an in-game overlay.
Wccftech explains that the project doesn't simply translate NVIDIA's instructions. It runs NVIDIA's neural network models through its own runtime, with custom HIP compute kernels (HIP is AMD's GPU programming platform) and DirectX 12 integration. NVIDIA Reflex is the one major piece still missing, per VideoCardz.
How fast is DLSS Ray Reconstruction on an RX 9070 XT?
Early numbers come from community testing, not lab benchmarks. A Reddit user ran Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p with maximum settings and Path Tracing on a Radeon RX 9070 XT with a Ryzen 7 9700X, and reported no measurable FPS loss with Ray Reconstruction turned on. Other users report drops of about 4 to 10 FPS, and VideoCardz cites another test showing a loss of roughly 25%. Results clearly depend on the game, the settings and the GPU.
The developer also reports a further 25% Neural Rendering speedup on RDNA 3 cards in this version. On an RX 9070 XT, the project's latest published Neural Rendering result is about 90 to 100 FPS at 1080p with the full HT model, though VideoCardz stresses that this figure isn't a Ray Reconstruction comparison.
Which Radeon GPUs and games are supported?
- Graphics cards: Radeon RX 7000 (RDNA 3) and RX 9000 (RDNA 4). RX 6000 (RDNA 2) support is experimental and limited to Neural Rendering for now, with more features planned.
- System: Windows 11 and AMD Adrenalin 26.1.1 or newer, according to Wccftech.
- Games: DirectX 12 titles that support DLSS, FSR or XeSS. Ray Reconstruction needs compatible ray-tracing inputs, and Frame Generation needs DLSS Frame Generation inputs plus GPU spoofing.
- Known exceptions: community reports flag Alan Wake 2, Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata. These are early reports, not a complete compatibility list.
Is it safe to use DLSS mods on an AMD card?
Go in with realistic expectations. The project is experimental, and VideoCardz warns that having a feature available doesn't guarantee full game compatibility or performance equal to a GeForce RTX card. You also have to supply your own NVIDIA DLSS DLL files, because the mod doesn't distribute NVIDIA's proprietary code. The biggest practical catch is online play: games with active anti-cheat protection may block the mod, so single-player games are the sensible place to try it.
Buy or wait: should this change your next GPU?
If you already own an RX 7000 or RX 9000 card, this is an interesting experiment for single-player games, and it doesn't require new hardware. If you're shopping, don't buy a Radeon card counting on this mod. It's unofficial, a driver or game update could break it, and setup isn't simple. Choose a GPU for what it officially does today: raw performance, VRAM and its own upscaler, FSR on Radeon or DLSS on GeForce. If DLSS features are a must-have for you, a GeForce RTX card is still the only supported way to get them.

DLSS on Radeon FAQ
Is DLSS on Radeon official?
No. DLSS-NR-on-AMD is an unofficial community mod. Neither AMD nor NVIDIA has commented on it publicly in the reports we reviewed.
Does the mod work on Radeon RX 6000 cards?
Only partly. RDNA 2 support is experimental, with DLSS 5 Neural Rendering supported and other DLSS features planned for later releases, according to Wccftech.
Can I use it in online games?
Be careful. Games with active anti-cheat may block the mod, according to VideoCardz.
Do I need NVIDIA files to use it?
Yes. You must supply your own NVIDIA DLSS DLL files. The mod doesn't include them.
