NVIDIA IGX Thor: Real Time AI for Industry and Healthcare

Artificial intelligence is moving into the real world, helping machines in factories and hospitals see, sense, and make decisions instantly. NVIDIA has introduced IGX Thor, a new tough and compact computer designed to bring fast and reliable AI directly to places where it is needed most, like factory floors and medical rooms.

IGX Thor is much more powerful than the earlier IGX Orin model. It can handle eight times more AI workloads, allowing engineers and scientists to build smarter robots and systems that work faster and more safely. Early users include leading companies that make robots, run railways, develop flying taxis, search for life beyond Earth, and improve surgery.

Many companies have struggled to use AI at the edge because older systems were too slow or could not securely juggle many tasks at once. IGX Thor solves this with advanced processing, constant connectivity, built in security, and special safety features. Inside it uses two kinds of powerful NVIDIA Blackwell graphics chips which together process huge amounts of data quickly. This makes it possible to use AI models for things like computer vision or language understanding right where the action happens instead of far away in the cloud.

IGX Thor is built to last for ten years and receives long term support from NVIDIA software. It works with a complete set of tools from NVIDIA for AI, robotics, and sensor processing. Important safety features are built in, making it a good fit for robots that work closely with people in factories or hospitals.

Major partners like Hitachi Rail are using IGX Thor for jobs such as predicting when train parts need fixing. Maven Robotics is putting IGX Thor inside its industrial robots for better safety and decision making. In healthcare, Diligent Robotics and Endoquest Robotics use IGX Thor to help their smart machines make fast choices for tasks like surgery. CMR Surgical is testing IGX Thor to help guide surgeons during complex procedures.

NVIDIA partners across the technology industry are also creating new servers and devices that use IGX Thor. The platform will be available as modules and kits for companies to build different solutions. Both the IGX Thor production systems and developer kits will be available starting in December.
