Holiday Cloud Gaming With GeForce NOW
NVIDIA is closing out the year with a major holiday push for GeForce NOW, its cloud gaming service. December brings a big mix of new games, quality of life upgrades and a limited time sale on premium memberships, all aimed at making it easier and cheaper to stream PC games from almost any device.
If you have been on the fence about cloud gaming or just want more games to play without upgrading your rig, this month is packed with reasons to jump in.
Half Price Holiday: Cheaper Access to Premium Cloud Gaming
GeForce NOW is running a Half Price Holiday promotion that gives new or upgrading members 50 percent off their first month of a premium tier. This applies to the Performance and Ultimate memberships, which are the best way to experience cloud gaming with higher frame rates and better visuals.
With a premium tier you get:
- Shorter queue times so you can get into games faster
- Longer gaming sessions before you need to reconnect
- Access to more than 2,000 extra Install to Play titles powered by GeForce RTX in the cloud
Install to Play means GeForce NOW sets up a cloud PC style environment for you, then installs and runs your supported games there. It takes a bit more setup than instant streaming but gives you access to a much larger library, especially for PC focused players.
The Half Price Holiday sale runs until Tuesday, December 30, and is listed as available while supplies last. It is a good low cost way to test the premium experience for a month, especially if you want to see how well your connection handles high end cloud gaming before committing long term.
Smoother Logins and Better Integration
Logging in to multiple launchers can be a pain, especially on TVs, phones or devices without a keyboard. GeForce NOW is tackling that with more single sign on support.
The big update this month is full Battle.net single sign on. You can now link your Battle.net account once to GeForce NOW and then have it log in automatically on supported devices. No more repeatedly entering credentials or juggling passwords every time you stream Blizzard and Activision titles.
This integration covers popular games like:
- Overwatch 2
- Diablo IV
- Other Battle.net based games as they arrive on the service
Battle.net SSO joins existing automatic login support for Xbox, Epic Games and Ubisoft. The goal is simple: turn cloud gaming into a pick up and play experience where you tap a game tile and are in the action quickly, even on a smartphone or low powered laptop.
New Games Streaming In December
December is stacked with 30 incoming titles, covering big franchises, indies and new releases. A highlight is the growing support for streaming Activision games through Ubisoft Plus Premium on GeForce NOW. You can now stream:
- Call of Duty Modern Warfare II
- Call of Duty Modern Warfare III
- Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
- Spyro Reignited Trilogy
These are available via Ubisoft Plus Premium in the cloud, powered by GeForce RTX. That means console and PC style experiences without having to install anything locally.
On the RPG side, Square Enix’s Octopath Traveler 0 joins the service. This prequel returns to Orsterra with a new cast, the series trademark pixel art style and plenty of character driven stories. It is a strong fit for cloud gaming since it streams well even over modest connections.
Big name additions through the month include:
- Hogwarts Legacy
- LEGO Harry Potter Collection
- Marvel Cosmic Invasion
- Lost Records Bloom and Rage
- Routine
- Jurassic World Evolution 3
- Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2
- Witchfire
Several titles are also tagged as GeForce RTX 5080 ready, such as Enshrouded, Fallout 76 and Of Ash and Steel. This label indicates they are tuned to take advantage of the latest GeForce RTX 50 series capabilities on the server side, which benefits cloud players with higher performance and better visual features when streaming.
NVIDIA also notes that ten extra games slipped into the catalog in November on top of the originally announced lineup, including The Crew Motorfest, Apollo Justice Ace Attorney Trilogy, Moonlighter 2 and more. The service continues to grow steadily, which is important if you want your library to follow you to the cloud.
Catalog Tweaks and Community Fun
To keep the service performing well for the most popular games, NVIDIA is making some adjustments behind the scenes. Titles that see very little playtime in the Ready to Play catalog will start moving to Install to Play beginning December 12. Ready to Play games are maintained and updated for instant streaming with no wait.
When a game moves to Install to Play it is no longer instantly ready on the servers, but premium members can still play it thanks to their Install to Play benefits. This shift frees up resources for heavily played titles while keeping niche games available for dedicated fans.
At the same time some favorites are moving the other way. Popular Install to Play games like Megabonk, R.E.P.O and RV There Yet are being promoted to Ready to Play, meaning they will be kept up to date and ready for instant streaming.
On the community side, the GeForce NOW Video Contest is still running. Players can submit their best cloud gaming clips for a chance to win two Ultimate day passes and even a one year Ultimate membership. It is a way for NVIDIA to show off what cloud gaming looks like in real matches, while giving creators some rewards for sharing highlights.
Overall, December is a strong month for GeForce NOW. Between the Half Price Holiday discount, easier Battle.net logins, a healthy list of new titles and catalog optimizations, it is a good time to test how well cloud gaming can replace or supplement a traditional gaming PC.
