Rumored Sony PS6 Handheld: Next Generation Power at a Surprising Price

Sony may be planning to release a new handheld PlayStation as part of the upcoming PS6 family. According to tech rumors, this device could use a powerful custom AMD processor called Canis, which would be built using advanced technology and include multiple high performance and low power cores. This would make it similar to some of the newest laptop processors, but specially designed for gaming.

For graphics, the handheld might come with 16 modern RDNA 5 compute units. To give you an idea, the Steam Deck has eight of an older kind and other popular gaming handhelds have even fewer, so the rumored Sony device would be quite powerful for its size. Some claims even suggest it could run games that were made for the PS5 and PS4, allowing for impressive backwards compatibility.

Despite these exciting rumors, there are questions about how realistic these features are. Sony often uses tried and tested hardware rather than the newest and most expensive parts. The supposed processor and graphics technology have not even appeared in any current devices. Recent PlayStation products still use older designs with minor upgrades.

The rumor also says the handheld will have a lot of fast memory—48 GB, which is much more than found in most current gaming devices. This would help both the processor and graphics work together without slowing down.

However, perhaps the biggest surprise is the suggested price between 399 and 499 dollars. This would make it cheaper than many less powerful competitors, as top handheld gaming devices often cost much more.

Keep in mind that these reports come from a tech channel known for speculation and making bold predictions. Until Sony officially announces details, all of these specs and prices remain rumors. For now, fans can only imagine what the next PlayStation handheld might offer and how much it will really cost.
