New Witcher 3 DLC Rumors: What PC Gamers Should Know For 2026

A Decade Later, The Witcher 3 Might Not Be Done Yet

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is about to turn ten years old, yet it refuses to leave the PC gaming spotlight. CD Projekt is busy working on The Witcher 4, but new reports suggest that Geralt’s last big adventure might be getting a surprise new expansion in 2026.

This is not an official announcement from CD Projekt, but a growing pile of rumors and analyst predictions that line up in some interesting ways. If you play on PC and still have The Witcher 3 installed, it might be worth keeping an eye on 2026.

Rumors Of A New Witcher 3 Expansion

The current spark comes from a report at Strefa Inwestorów quoting Noble Securities analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski. He predicts that a new paid add on for The Witcher 3 will launch in May 2026.

Here is what the analyst is expecting:

  • A paid DLC or expansion for The Witcher 3 in May 2026
  • Estimated price of around 30 dollars
  • Predicted sales of about 11 million copies
  • An estimated production budget of roughly 14.5 million dollars
  • The DLC acting as a warm up marketing push for The Witcher 4

None of that is confirmed by CD Projekt, but it does fit the studio’s known plans. CD Projekt has already stated that The Witcher 4 will not arrive before 2026, and Chrzanowski’s prediction of a Q4 2027 launch for Witcher 4 lines up with that earlier messaging.

From a business point of view, extra Witcher 3 content also looks very tempting. The game has sold over 60 million copies. If only 20 percent of those players bought new DLC, that would be around 12 million sales. At 30 dollars each, that is about 360 million dollars in revenue before costs and platform cuts.

Even the analyst’s more conservative guess of 11 million copies would be huge money, especially compared to the suggested development budget. For CD Projekt this would be a relatively low risk way to bring The Witcher brand roaring back just before the new game arrives.

Why The Rumors Feel Plausible For PC Players

The analyst report is not the only hint. Earlier leaks have suggested that more content for The Witcher 3 might be in the works. Leaker Borys Niespielak has claimed several times that new Witcher 3 DLC is being developed at Polish studio Fool's Theory.

That studio is already deeply tied to the Witcher universe:

  • Fool's Theory is currently working on the remake of the original The Witcher
  • The studio head, Jakub Rokosz, was a quest designer on The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 3
  • The team has direct experience with the tone, quest structure and world design of the series

If CD Projekt wanted to extend The Witcher 3 while keeping its core team focused on The Witcher 4, handing DLC work to an experienced partner like Fool's Theory would make sense. It mirrors what other AAA studios do when they outsource remakes or expansions to trusted collaborators.

There is also the simple fact that The Witcher 3 is still very much alive on PC. A decade after launch it continues to sit comfortably in Steam’s top 100 most played and top selling charts, pushed along by regular discounts and word of mouth. New players keep discovering it, and veterans often return for fresh modded playthroughs.

In that context, dropping a new expansion in 2026 would do several things at once:

  • Inject a surge of interest and sales into a game that still has a strong player base
  • Remind lapsed players why they love the series before The Witcher 4 marketing kicks off
  • Potentially show off updated tech or systems that might preview where The Witcher 4 is heading

For PC gamers especially, extra content on top of the existing next gen update and mod scene would help keep The Witcher 3 relevant for yet another cycle.

One More Patch And Cross Platform Mod Support

Beyond pure DLC rumors, there is at least one confirmed update still coming. CD Projekt has already announced that The Witcher 3 is getting one more patch, currently planned for 2026. The key feature is support for cross platform mods.

That update is officially real, although it has been delayed into 2026. Some fans may be confusing this upcoming patch with a full expansion, which could partially explain the buzz. However, the combination of a confirmed technical update and independent rumors of new story content gives the feeling that CD Projekt is not done with the game.

For PC players, cross platform mod support could be a big deal. Better mod compatibility and a more unified ecosystem would make it easier to share creations and keep the game fresh, even without new official DLC. If the expansion rumors are true, the patch could also ensure that a 2026 add on launches on a stable and mod friendly foundation.

For now there is no official word on extra Witcher 3 DLC from CD Projekt, and everything should be treated as speculation. The analyst predictions and leaks are interesting, the business case is strong, and the player numbers are still impressive, but none of that guarantees new content.

If you are a PC gamer who loves The Witcher 3, the safest approach is simple. Keep your expectations low, keep your saves backed up, and watch what CD Projekt and Fool's Theory say as 2026 gets closer. Whether it ends up being just one final patch or a surprise full expansion, it seems clear that Geralt’s world is not quite ready to ride off into the sunset.
