Morrowind Is Now Much Easier to Play on Steam Deck and Consoles With the Latest OpenMW Update

OpenMW, which is an open source engine for playing The Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind on modern computers, just released a new update candidate that makes using gamepads much better.

Previously, Morrowind was tough to play with a controller, especially on devices like the Steam Deck or when sitting on your sofa. With the new 0.50 release candidate, things have changed. The update adds better support for gamepads and a new user interface built for controllers. Now you can easily explore and play the game just by using your controller.

OpenMW is also available for Windows, Linux and Mac. It lets you play Morrowind with modern graphics and up to date features, making it the top recommendation for fans or new players.

The update is not perfect yet because this new version is still being tested. For example, you still need to use a keyboard to enter your character’s name when starting a game. Some parts of the controller interface may hide important information on your screen. However, the controls feel much better than before, and the developers are asking players to try this version and report any problems. You can even suggest further improvements.

If you love Morrowind or want to play it comfortably on the couch or on your Steam Deck, this is a great time to try OpenMW. The new controller support makes it much easier and more fun to relax and enjoy this classic RPG.
