Marvel Rivals Plans to Fix Its Overpowered Damage Dealer Problem, But Change Will Take Time

Marvel Rivals is a popular game known for its exciting variety of heroes. You can play as a fun shark, a K pop star, Norse gods, and classic teams like the Fantastic Four and the Avengers. However, there is one big issue in the game right now. More than half of the heroes are focused on dealing damage, who are called Duelists.

Out of the 41 heroes currently available, 22 are Duelists, while there are only ten Vanguards and nine Strategists. This creates an unbalanced game experience, especially in competitive matches. If a few non damage roles are banned in a match, you are left with very few other options. Players have been frustrated because even after the game launched, most new heroes are still Duelists.

In a recent interview, the creative director, Guangyun Chen, said the team knows about this problem and wants to make things more balanced in the future. Chen explained that making a new hero takes a lot of planning and time. Right now, the team is already working on heroes that will not be released until next year. This means that even though the developers want to add more Vanguards and Strategists, these changes will appear slowly over time.

Live service games like Marvel Rivals have to plan ahead, which means they cannot change things quickly. Chen shared that the developers feel the pressure to keep up with releasing one hero each month, but they are listening to player feedback and making progress.

So, while it may take a while before the hero lineup becomes more balanced, there is hope that future updates will bring more variety. However, it is common in games like this for damage dealer heroes to always be the most popular choice, so there might always be more of them compared to other roles.
