What Is Versos Drafts and Why It Matters
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 just received a big free Thank You update after Sandfall Interactive cleaned up at The Game Awards, taking home nine awards. As part of that celebration, players get a generous chunk of new content including fresh costumes, new lumina, extra bosses, and a whole new area to explore called Versos Drafts.
Versos Drafts is not just a side room you stumble into. It is a dedicated new zone with its own access requirements and it arrives alongside quality of life improvements and extra endgame challenges. If you are already deep into Expedition 33 or you are just getting back into it after hearing about the awards, this guide will walk you through exactly how to reach the new area and what else the update brings for players.
How to Unlock and Find Versos Drafts
You will not be able to rush to Versos Drafts early in the story. The game locks this area behind progression and a character relationship milestone to make sure you are ready for what is inside.
Here is what you need to do before you can get in.

Reach Act 3 and unlock Esquie’s flying
Play through the main story until you reach Act 3. At that point Esquie gains the ability to fly, which is essential for reaching the part of the map where the new content is located. -
Raise Esquie’s relationship to level 6 to unlock diving
On top of flying, you also need Esquie’s diving ability. This unlocks when your relationship with him hits level 6. If you have been ignoring character interactions or side content, you may need to put in a bit of time to build that bond before you can continue.
Once you have both flying and diving, you are finally ready to track down Versos Drafts itself.
Open your map and head for Lumiere in the southern part of the world. It is hard to miss thanks to the melted, lopsided Eiffel Tower dominating the skyline. From Lumiere, you will be looking to the east side of the area.
As you explore around Lumiere, look for a distinctive landmark just to the east. You are aiming for a rocky area that is covered in children’s toys. This visual cue stands out from the rest of the environment and marks the entry point you need.
When you find that toy covered rock, you will see a portal nearby. This is the gateway to Versos Drafts. If Esquie has the diving ability unlocked, you can interact with the portal and dive into the new area.
If you reach the rock and the portal is not usable, double check:
- You are in Act 3.
- Esquie can fly.
- Your relationship level with Esquie is at least 6 so diving is available.
With everything in place, the portal should open up and you can experience the new zone added in the Thank You update.
What Else Arrived in the Thank You Update
Versos Drafts is the headline feature of the update, but it is far from the only addition. Sandfall Interactive bundled in a variety of features aimed at both story focused players and those who love endgame challenges and completion.
Here are the other key improvements and additions.

Four new endgame boss battles
If you enjoy the combat and want more high level tests of your build and skill, the Endless Tower in the west of the map now hosts four extra endgame bosses. This expands the late game considerably and gives veterans a reason to return even if they have already rolled credits. -
Photo mode
The update adds a photo mode so you can capture Expedition 33’s art and world in detail. Expect to be able to pause the action, adjust angles, and line up stylish screenshots of your characters and the dreamy environments. -
More costumes and lumina
Character customization gets a boost with extra costumes. New lumina options also open up more ways to tweak your playstyle and builds, making experimentation more rewarding if you like fine tuning your party’s performance. -
A new way to obtain the old key
Previously, the old key was only obtainable in the game’s prologue. If you missed it there, a specific journal entry became permanently locked off for that save file. The Thank You update fixes that by offering another method to acquire the old key later in the game. That is great news for completionists and lore hunters who want to see every bit of story content.
On top of these changes, the update is framed as a genuine thank you from the developers to the community and the critics who supported the game. Dropping a large content pack for free, with a full new area and meaningful endgame battles, makes Expedition 33 an even better value for players jumping in after the awards buzz.
