How to Find the Red Soldier Ant Egg in Grounded 2

In Grounded 2, one of the cool new features is bug mounts called buggies. The first buggy you can unlock is the red soldier ant, but to get it you need to find a special red soldier ant egg during the Egg Hunt quest. This adventure can be a little tricky, especially if you are not sure what to look for or where to go. Here is an easy guide to help you out.

First, start your search at the Hatchery Anthill using the South Entrance. Follow the instructions from the quest and watch carefully as you go. Choose the left tunnel and continue heading down. Look up and follow the colorful cables attached to the ceiling and a thick grey pipe on the floor. These clues lead you north if you check your map.

When you find a ladder next to a light, take another left. Soon you will reach a fork in the tunnel where you will see an Ominent checkpoint and all the cables coming together. At this point, turn left again since the right path is blocked by roots.

Keep going until you see a red light. Enter the Ominent science facility at the very bottom of the anthill and go through the door just behind the projection of the soldier ant egg. Be careful not to take the wrong turn here because you could run into a robotic spider if you go right instead.

Inside the facility, look for a small metal trolley at the back of the cave. That is where you will find the red soldier ant eggs. Pick one up. Remember that you will not be able to attack while carrying the egg, so sneak out by retracing your steps through the Ominent lab and back up the tunnels until you are outside again.

Take the egg to your own hatchery. To incubate it and hatch your new bug mount, you will need some extra ingredients: two pieces of grub hide, which you can get by digging up and defeating grubs; three sprigs, which are small plants with two leaves found in grassy spots outside the Ranger Outpost Snackbar; and one acorn shell, which comes from breaking acorns and can be found just north of the Ranger Outpost Snackbar.

Once you have the ant egg and all the crafting ingredients, start the incubation process in your hatchery. After twelve in-game hours, your red soldier ant will hatch and you can now use your first buggy.

The red soldier ant mount is a good all-round companion. It helps with harvesting, carrying items, building, and can even help out in battles. If you play the game with friends or want more ant eggs, you can go back to the Hatchery Anthill or look for more eggs in the Toxic Anthill beneath the Picnic Table. All these eggs work the same for hatching your buggy buddy.
