Why This Quest Is Worth Your Time
A Symbol of Unification is one of those quests in Arc Raiders that gives you a great reward for very little effort. You only have to do two things in one small Raider outpost and in return you get the Aviator outfit. Yes, the one with the headphones that you have probably seen other players flexing in the hub.
The entire mission is simple on paper. First you grab a Raider flag from the Formicai Outpost. Then you raise that flag in a very specific spot that the game does not clearly highlight. If you have been wandering around the outpost wondering where to plant the thing, this guide walks you through the whole run in a beginner friendly way.
You are not extracting anything in this quest so it is a good moment to bring a free loadout. The walk to the outpost can be pretty long depending on where you spawn and this lets you focus on movement and survival instead of stressing over losing gear.
Getting to Formicai Outpost and Finding the Flag
Your first objective is to head to Formicai Outpost in the Dam Battlegrounds area. Look at your map and aim for the southern side of the zone. The outpost sits on a rocky hill above the Scrap Yard. It is hard to miss once you know to look up toward that elevated mound.
There are probably a few different angles you can approach from, but the easiest way is to follow the trail that climbs up the hill to the southern end of the outpost. Keep to that path and it will wrap you around to the main entrance. This is usually safer and less confusing than trying to scramble straight up cliffs or sneak in from odd angles.
Once you step inside the entrance, slow down for a second so you do not run straight past the key item. On your immediate right there is a medical gurney with a backpack sitting on it. You will recognize it by the yellow markings that make it stand out from normal clutter.
Walk up to the backpack and interact with it. This gives you the Raider Flag item that you need for the rest of the quest. If you leave the entrance room without checking this spot you can easily miss it and end up looping around the outpost confused.
- Head for Dam Battlegrounds
- Go to the rocky hill south of the zone above the Scrap Yard
- Follow the trail to the southern side of Formicai Outpost
- Enter the outpost and check the right side for the yellow backpack on a gurney
- Interact with the backpack to pick up the Raider Flag
After you have the flag you are halfway done and you do not need to loot or clear the entire outpost. The next part is about locating the right platform that overlooks Red Lake.
Where To Hoist the Flag and Claim Your Reward
With the Raider Flag in your inventory continue deeper into the outpost. You are heading toward the main cylindrical room at the core of the structure. This room is the hub that leads out to various walkways and balconies.
Move straight through this central chamber and exit out to the northeast exterior platform. This balcony is easy to identify because it has a clear view of Red Lake below. If the area seems to open out toward a large body of red tinted water you are in the right place.
Once you are standing on that northeast platform look to the left side. There is a pole there that you can interact with. It might blend into the environment if you are rushing, so sweep your camera slowly and look for the prompt to appear.
Interact with the pole to hoist the Raider Flag and you will complete the main objective of A Symbol of Unification. There are no extra hidden steps or surprise enemies tied to the flag raising itself, so this part is usually quick as long as you find the correct balcony.
- Go from the entrance to the main cylindrical room
- Head straight out onto the northeast balcony
- Confirm you can see Red Lake from this platform
- Look left for the interactive flagpole
- Use the pole to raise the Raider Flag and finish the quest
After the flag is up, all that is left is to return to Celeste and turn in the quest. She will reward you with the Aviator outfit, a stylish set that includes the distinctive headphones and makes your character stand out in the field and in social spaces.
Because the entire quest only involves one outpost, one item pickup, and one interaction point, it is a fantastic early objective for new players. You get some practice with navigation and outpost layout without needing to fight through a huge dungeon. At the same time the cosmetic reward feels premium enough to justify the trip.
If you enjoy this style of quick focused mission, Arc Raiders has a bunch of other side tasks that work the same way. Field Depots and Field Crates offer loot and resources, while quests like Greasing Her Palms or A Reveal in Ruins send you to specific points of interest across the map. A Symbol of Unification is a perfect warmup for exploring those other activities and getting comfortable moving between landmarks.
