How NVIDIA and UK Partners Are Powering Next Generation AI and Technology

The United Kingdom is investing heavily in artificial intelligence to boost industries like manufacturing, healthcare, and life sciences. NVIDIA, a global leader in AI technology, is working closely with UK researchers, startups, and organizations to bring advanced AI solutions to life.

The UK government created the AI Action Opportunities Plan to guide its growth in AI. The plan focuses on building strong computing and data infrastructure, encouraging widespread AI adoption in both the public and private sectors, and making the UK a leader in AI development.

One of the biggest milestones is the launch of Isambard AI, the most powerful AI supercomputer in the UK. Built with NVIDIA technologies and based at the University of Bristol, Isambard AI supports important national projects. For example, UK LLM is a language model project that helps improve services in healthcare and education by understanding both English and Welsh. Nightingale AI uses health data to make earlier and more personalized medical diagnoses. PolluGen models air pollution to inform citizens and policymakers. Other projects are creating better ultrasound imaging, understanding daily tasks to help dementia patients, and simulating complex chemistry for material science.

To address the need for more AI skills, SCAN is working with NVIDIA to provide hands on training and learning opportunities for people across the UK. Their programs aim to make AI education accessible to everyone.

In robotics, NVIDIA is partnering with companies and research groups to make robots smarter and more useful. Extend Robotics is using NVIDIA tools to safely train robots for car manufacturing. Humanoid is building robots that can work naturally alongside people in stores and warehouses. The University of Liverpool is using AI to predict material properties and train robot scientists. Other partners are developing self-driving vehicle software, mimicking animal brains to make robot navigation more efficient, and helping new robotics startups grow.

AI is also revolutionizing life sciences in the UK. Several companies use NVIDIA technology to speed up drug design, simulate treatments, and make better medicines. Basecamp Research is using massive biological datasets to help create programmable medicines. The Centre of Excellence for In Silico Regulatory Science and Innovation is building digital twins to test new treatments. Isomorphic Labs, Peptone, Latent Labs, Relation Therapeutics, and Hologen AI are all using AI to improve drug discovery and treatment methods. Oxford Nanopore is providing rapid and accessible DNA and RNA sequencing for research and healthcare.

Startups and researchers are exploring new kinds of AI, such as agentic and generative AI, with help from NVIDIA. Firms like Aveni and PolyAI are launching advanced language models and virtual agents for customer service and financial advice. ElevenLabs is making realistic AI voice technology in over 70 languages for various uses. Recraft allows creators to generate and edit images for marketing and design work. Speechmatics and Synthesia are making speech to text and video creation easier and more accessible for businesses.

Together, these projects show how the UK and NVIDIA are shaping the future of artificial intelligence and technology in everyday life.
