Half Life 2 Patch Fixes Teleporter Bug and Makes Train Escape Easier

Valve recently released a new update for Half Life 2. This follows the big 20th anniversary update that brought back the original development team. That earlier update improved the game by adding new commentary from the developers, support for mods through the Steam Workshop, and many map and gameplay changes. However, it also accidentally caused a bug on the Entanglement level that made it hard for some players to progress.

In the Entanglement level, you need to defend Alyx while she resets a teleporter. After this, you are supposed to jump into the teleporter with her and escape. The bug sometimes made it impossible to enter the teleporter after Alyx. If you tried to get in first, Alyx would not follow you. Some creative players got around this by jumping on Alyx's head or using in-game cheats, but these tricks are no longer needed. The latest patch fixes the teleporter, and now the level works the way it is supposed to. The update also stops enemies from being able to shoot through some of the walls in the level.

Another fix in this update involves the train sequence on Highway 17. In this part of the game, you need to race a train in your buggy. An earlier update made the buggy much harder to drive, making it very difficult to beat the train. Valve has changed the train sequence so it feels like it did in the original version of the game. The speed of the train now matches the original difficulty, making the race fairer and more fun.

Half Life 2 remains a popular first person shooter and these updates help keep the game enjoyable for both new and returning players.
