Cloud VR Levels Up To 90 FPS
GeForce NOW is giving virtual reality gaming in the cloud a serious upgrade. Ultimate members can now stream supported PC games to Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest and Pico headsets at up to 90 frames per second. That smoother refresh rate means motion in VR feels more natural, aiming feels tighter and long play sessions are more comfortable.
Instead of relying on a high end gaming PC at home, GeForce NOW lets the cloud do the heavy lifting. You step into a virtual big screen environment and stream your existing PC titles with powerful RTX servers handling rendering and upscaling.
There are a few key benefits for VR gamers:
- Smoother motion Higher frame rates help reduce blur and make quick camera turns or head movements feel more responsive.
- Better comfort Stable performance and higher FPS can help cut down on motion sickness for some players.
- RTX and DLSS support In supported games you still get NVIDIA RTX features and DLSS upscaling, even when streaming through the cloud.
The updated app is rolling out now on supported VR platforms. Once it hits your device, you just launch GeForce NOW, pick your game and you are dropped into a massive virtual screen or theater. Whether you are relaxing in a virtual cinema or diving into a fast paced shooter, the jump to 90 fps helps every scene look sharper and play more responsively.
Crimson Desert Hits The Cloud With RTX 5080 Class Power
Alongside the VR update, GeForce NOW is adding one of the most anticipated open world action games to its library. Crimson Desert, from Pearl Abyss, is now available to stream and it is ready for GeForce RTX 5080 class performance in the cloud.
Crimson Desert is a visually rich action adventure set in a war torn fantasy world. You play as Kliff, a mercenary whose close knit group is shattered by an ambush. From there the story sends you across a huge landscape filled with warring factions, mystical enemies and cinematic battles.
The gameplay mixes:
- Large scale exploration Ride across windswept plains, explore towns and discover hidden areas across a detailed open world.
- Cinematic storytelling The game focuses heavily on story driven quests and character moments, with plenty of cutscenes and set pieces.
- Combo focused combat Fights are fast and flashy, with hard hitting combos, dodges and big mystical effects lighting up the battlefield.
On GeForce NOW, you do not need a monster PC to enjoy it at high settings. NVIDIA is assigning RTX 5080 class power to the game for streaming, so you can expect smooth action and lush visuals on devices that would never run it natively.
That includes:
- Low spec or older laptops
- Compatible smart TVs
- Tablets and mobile devices
If your hardware can run the GeForce NOW app and maintain a strong internet connection, you can jump into Crimson Desert with settings and performance more in line with a high end gaming rig.
More Games And Important Tier Changes
Crimson Desert is not the only addition this week. GeForce NOW is also expanding its library with several more titles, including new releases ready for RTX 5080 class hardware.
New games streaming on GeForce NOW include:
- Everwind New release on Steam, RTX 5080 ready
- Retro Rewind â Video Store Simulator New release on Steam
- Crimson Desert New release on Steam, RTX 5080 ready
- Fallout 3 Classic post apocalypse RPG on Steam
There is also a special event for World of Tanks players. The Battle Pass Special: Mafia runs from March 19 to March 29, bringing characters from the original Mafia game into World of Tanks. You can recruit iconic Mafia characters, unlock Little Italy and Lost Heaven Noir themed looks and roll out in the Italian Predatore tank. Streaming through GeForce NOW helps keep those tank battles smooth and responsive even on modest hardware.
One important note for free tier members: several demanding titles are moving off the basic rig type. Cyberpunk 2077, Forza Motorsport, Icarus and Ark Survival Ascended will no longer be playable on the free tier starting April 1 because the basic machines no longer meet the updated minimum system requirements for these games. Premium members keep full access, backed by more powerful cloud hardware.
For those who want to test their luck, the GeForce NOW Reddit community is also running a VR headset giveaway and creator Airie Summer is hosting a gaming giveaway on X. These community events are another sign that NVIDIA is leaning hard into cloud gaming, VR and high performance streaming as a core part of the modern PC gaming ecosystem.
If you want smoother VR without buying a new GPU, or you are curious about running a huge new open world game like Crimson Desert on a low spec laptop or TV, this GFN Thursday update is worth a look. Cloud hardware continues to climb, and for many gamers it is becoming a real alternative to constant PC upgrades.
