GeForce NOW Levels Up With RTX 5080 Cloud Power
GeForce NOW is kicking off May in a big way, combining a packed release schedule with a serious upgrade to its cloud hardware. If you love PC gaming but do not always have access to a high end rig, this month’s updates make the service even more attractive.
The biggest change is for GeForce NOW Ultimate members. NVIDIA is expanding access to RTX 5080 class virtual gaming rigs across almost the entire Ready to Play library. That means more of your games will automatically run on next generation Blackwell based GPUs in the cloud.
With RTX 5080 level performance available by default for Ultimate users, you can stream at up to 5K resolution at 120 frames per second or 360 frames per second at 1080p on supported displays. This brings cloud performance closer to what you would expect from a high end desktop with a GeForce RTX 50 Series GPU.
On top of raw performance, Ultimate members get access to NVIDIA’s latest graphics technologies in the cloud, including:
- DLSS 4 for sharper image quality and higher frame rates using AI upscaling
- NVIDIA Reflex to cut system latency and make controls feel more responsive
- Advanced ray tracing for more realistic lighting and reflections in supported titles
The key advantage is that you do not need to worry about upgrading your own hardware. Whether you are gaming on a laptop, a low end PC, a Mac or even certain mobile devices, you can tap into RTX 5080 class performance just by streaming from GeForce NOW.
Day One Cloud Support For Big New Games
Alongside the hardware upgrade, GeForce NOW is rolling out a strong lineup of new games. Many of these are available to stream on launch day, so you can skip the long downloads and big install sizes and jump straight in.
The headline releases this month include:
Forza Horizon 6
The Horizon festival heads to Japan with Forza Horizon 6, bringing a huge open world that stretches from the neon soaked streets of Tokyo City to the snowy Japanese Alps. The map is described as the most dense and vertical yet for the series, which should be ideal for players who love exploration and high speed runs through varied terrain.
On GeForce NOW you can buy Forza Horizon 6 on Steam or through Xbox on PC, including via PC Game Pass, then stream it instantly from the cloud. That means you can enjoy the visuals and high frame rates of a powerful gaming PC even if your local hardware is a modest laptop or office machine.
007 First Light
007 First Light from IO Interactive delivers a modern origin story for James Bond. The game mixes stealth and action in what the studio calls a breathing gameplay loop, where missions can be approached in multiple ways. You can go in quietly, trigger all out action or improvise solutions as you go, with different viable paths to your objectives.
When 007 First Light launches for PC on May 27, it will be ready to stream on GeForce NOW from day one. The title will be available through Steam, Xbox on PC, GOG and the Microsoft Store, and you can play it via the cloud without re buying if it is already in your supported PC library.
These big releases are part of NVIDIA’s ongoing push to support more AAA games on launch day. You still purchase your games from stores like Steam, Xbox, PC Game Pass or GOG, but GeForce NOW lets you stream them across devices without needing to install them locally each time.
Firaxis Celebration And A Packed May Release Calendar
This month also marks 30 years of Firaxis Games, the studio behind iconic strategy series like Civilization and XCOM. GeForce NOW is celebrating by expanding its catalog of Firaxis titles as Install to Play games for instant access in the cloud.
Beyond Civilization V and VI, several classics are joining or highlighted in the library, including:
- Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth for sci fi flavored empire building
- Sid Meier’s Railroads! for train and network management fans
- XCOM 2 for tactical squad based alien defense
- Ace Patrol and Ace Patrol: Pacific Skies for turn based aerial combat
There is also a Firaxis anniversary sale on Steam with discounts up to 90 percent on some of these games, making it a good time to build out a cloud friendly strategy library.
Beyond Firaxis, May is stacked with new titles joining GeForce NOW. Some notable highlights include:
- Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era A new prequel that returns to the roots of the classic turn based strategy franchise, with solo and multiplayer, large armies and powerful spells.
- Anno 117: PAX Romana – Prophecies of Ash DLC Adds a massive volcanic island called Cinis, new production chains like obsidian crafting and a new deity Vulcan to manage while dealing with an active volcano.
- INDUSTRIA 2 A new story driven shooter continuing the INDUSTRIA universe, available as a fresh Steam release.
- Global Rescue, s&box, Far Far West, Bus Bound and more indie titles launching on Steam and instantly streamable.
Looking further into the month, a wide range of games are planned to arrive on the service, including Conan Exiles, Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core, Luna Abyss, Starminer, Sudden Strike 5, Super Battle Golf and others. Many of these will be available as soon as they launch on PC platforms.
GeForce NOW also caught up on some additions from April, with eleven more games joining the cloud library such as Crimson Desert, DayZ, Diablo III, MapleStory M, PRAGMATA SKETCHBOOK Demo, a special Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition and more.
For PC gamers, all of this means more flexibility. You can keep buying games on your favorite store, then decide later whether you want to run them on your own hardware or stream them at high settings from the cloud. With RTX 5080 class rigs now powering most titles for Ultimate members, cloud gaming is becoming a serious alternative to frequent desktop upgrades, especially if you game across multiple devices.
