Fortnite Meets Kill Bill In A Big Way
Fortnite has crossed over with a lot of huge franchises, from Star Wars to The Simpsons, but its next collab might be the wildest yet. Epic Games is teaming up with director Quentin Tarantino to bring an unfilmed scene from Kill Bill into Fortnite as the centerpiece of the next chapter.
The new chapter is themed fully around Kill Bill and ties into the upcoming theatrical re release called Kill Bill The Whole Bloody Affair. This is the long talked about full cut that combines both movies plus some extra footage for hardcore fans.
The big hook for Fortnite players is something that Kill Bill fans have been curious about for years. An unshot chapter called The Lost Chapter Yukis Revenge is finally being brought to life and Fortnite is where it will debut.
What Is The Lost Chapter: Yuki’s Revenge
Yukis Revenge was originally planned for Kill Bill Volume 1. Tarantino has mentioned it before as one of the pieces that was cut for pacing reasons. Instead of getting filmed and released later, it simply never happened. Until now.
The scene focuses on Yuki the sister of Gogo Yubari. If you remember Gogo from Kill Bill she is the deadly schoolgirl bodyguard who fights The Bride with that brutal spiked ball and chain. In this lost chapter Yuki hunts down The Bride to avenge her sisters death. That setup alone sounds like a classic Kill Bill showdown.
The announcement of this collaboration did not drop in a low key way either. Quentin Tarantino and Uma Thurman appeared together at a Fortnite event in the Vista Theater in Hollywood which Tarantino owns. They revealed the plan in front of a live audience which already makes it feel like more than just another licensed skin drop.
Epic also revealed a poster that sums up how strange and fun Fortnite crossovers have become. It shows Yuki The Bride and the Fortnite character Fishsticks all sharing the same space. Fishsticks is wearing sunglasses and standing alongside two of the most iconic revenge characters in modern cinema. It is the kind of mashup that only really makes sense in Fortnite.
What Epic has not explained yet is how this lost chapter will actually play out in game. There are a few possibilities that make sense for Fortnite right now.
- A cinematic short that players can watch in game similar to earlier in engine events
- A special quest or mission where you play through parts of Yukis hunt for The Bride
- A large live event with scripted moments and combat that retells the unseen story
Epic is keeping quiet on which direction they chose so for the moment we only know that it is central to the new chapter and that it is directly tied to the Kill Bill theme.
Kill Bill’s Return And Fortnite’s Ever Growing Universe
This collab is also perfectly timed with the re release of Kill Bill The Whole Bloody Affair. This is a combined cut of both original movies with extra material including a new anime sequence that fans have never seen before. The runtime is a massive four hours and 51 minutes with a short 15 minute interval so if you plan to see it in theaters make sure you are ready for almost five hours of non stop stylish violence and revenge.
If you have never seen Kill Bill here is the quick setup. Uma Thurman plays The Bride a former assassin who is betrayed and left for dead by her lover and boss Bill played by David Carradine. He shoots her in the head on her wedding day and steals their child. She survives wakes from a coma and goes on a bloody and extremely stylish revenge tour to take down everyone involved and finally face Bill himself.
Tarantino has been open over the years about wanting to revisit this universe. At one point he talked about a potential Kill Bill Volume Three which would jump ahead twenty years. His idea was to show The Bride and her daughter B B Kiddo after two decades of peace and then throw them back into danger forcing them to go on the run together. He even liked the idea of casting Uma Thurman again alongside her real life daughter Maya. Whether that ever happens is unknown but the Fortnite chapter and the new cut of The Whole Bloody Affair feel like the closest thing to a big Kill Bill return so far.
On the Fortnite side this is another huge name added to what now feels like an endless scroll of pop culture. The Bride will be sharing virtual space with an absolutely chaotic roster. Depending on what skins and modes you own you might be able to drop into a match where she can face characters from
- The Simpsons
- Star Wars
- WWE
- King of the Hill
- Squid Game
- KPop Demon Hunters
- Mortal Kombat
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
It is turning Fortnite into something like a living crossover museum where all these separate universes bump into each other in real time. For fans of Kill Bill it is a chance to finally see a long lost chapter come to life. For Fortnite players it is another over the top event that keeps the game feeling fresh more than seven chapters in.
Fortnite Chapter 7 launches on November 30. Whether you are there for battle royale wins or just want to see what Tarantino and Epic are cooking up with Yukis Revenge this chapter is shaping up to be one of the most interesting crossovers yet.
