Fans Revive The Crew with a Custom Server Project

The Crew was a popular street racing game from Ubisoft that became unplayable in 2024 when Ubisoft shut down its online servers. Many players were disappointed as they could no longer race or explore the game's world. Soon after closing the servers, Ubisoft started taking away game licenses from players, making it nearly impossible to keep the game alive.

A group of dedicated fans decided to take action. They created The Crew Unlimited, a custom server emulator that lets people play The Crew once again. This emulator is now almost ready and will launch on September 15. The developers worked hard to make sure it includes all the same features the official servers had. Right now, they are testing everything to make sure it works smoothly before releasing it to the public.

If you want to use The Crew Unlimited, you must already own The Crew game files. The fan developers will not be providing the game itself. At the moment, the emulator only works on PC, but they hope to support consoles in the future. Players can use different mods when playing offline, and only visual mods will be allowed online.

The project is completely free and created as a passion project. The developers say they only add new files to your game and do not change or include any of the original game files. Their goal is to preserve The Crew and help other similar games in the future.

There is some uncertainty because Ubisoft could ask the developers to stop the project at any time. However, Ubisoft has already faced heavy criticism for shutting down The Crew and removing access from paying customers. This pressure may encourage them to let The Crew Unlimited continue. The fan team is grateful for the support and just wants the game to be available for everyone again.
