Canada Takes Major Steps in Artificial Intelligence with NVIDIA and Industry Leaders

Canada has become a leader in artificial intelligence. This week, an important event called All In Canada AI Ecosystem brought together many industry leaders to discuss the future of AI in the country. Kari Briski from NVIDIA, Minister Evan Solomon, and Aiden Gomez from Cohere joined SiriusXM host Amber Mac to talk about how Canada can shape its own AI strategies.

During the event, Minister Solomon explained that Canada wants to create its own digital tools and rules. He said that AI is not just a new technology but is also creating new opportunities for entrepreneurs. Kari Briski from NVIDIA explained that it is important for countries to build their own AI and not rely only on foreign technology. This makes sure that AI matches local cultures and needs.

One major announcement was from TELUS, a Canadian technology company. TELUS is starting Canada’s first fully Canadian controlled AI factory in Rimouski, Quebec. This facility uses the latest technology from NVIDIA and ensures data stays inside Canada. It is already helping companies like OpenText and is powered by mostly renewable energy.

Other companies are also joining these efforts. Accenture will create industry specific AI solutions using TELUS’ platform. League, a healthcare company, will use the TELUS AI Factory to offer new healthcare services powered by AI.

This event is part of a global movement where many countries are investing in AI to boost their economies and support research. Over the past year, NVIDIA’s CEO Jensen Huang has visited countries like France, Germany, India, Japan, and the United Kingdom to support national AI strategies and public private partnerships.

Canada’s Minister Solomon reminded everyone that leadership in technology is something to earn through constant innovation. Canadian researchers such as Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio have helped put Canada at the center of AI innovation.

Financial companies like RBC Capital Markets are also working with NVIDIA to create specialized AI tools that help businesses make better decisions quickly. These projects are discussed at the All In event so that others can learn from their experiences.

Together, these efforts show Canada’s strong commitment to building a safe, competitive, and locally controlled AI future.
