Battlefield 6 Kicks Off Free Trial Week Through Battlefield Redsec

Battlefield 6 Free Trial: What You Need To Know

Electronic Arts has launched a limited time free trial for Battlefield 6, the latest entry in its long running multiplayer shooter series. While EA is already calling it the best selling shooter of 2025, the more important news for players is that you can jump in and try it without paying a cent for a full week.

The trial runs from November 25 until December 2 at 4 am PT or 7 am ET. During this window you can download and play a slice of Battlefield 6, level up your character and see how the new maps and modes feel before deciding whether to buy the full game.

There is a twist though. You do not launch the trial directly from the Battlefield 6 Steam page the way you might expect. Instead the free access is handled through Battlefield Redsec, the separate free to play battle royale experience in the Battlefield universe.

How The Trial Works And What You Can Play

Instead of browsing to Battlefield 6 on Steam and clicking a free trial button, you will need to install Battlefield Redsec. This battle royale title is always free to play but during the trial period it also acts as a gateway to the Battlefield 6 content.

Once you have Battlefield Redsec installed and launched you gain access to special trial playlists that drop you into traditional Battlefield style multiplayer rather than just the battle royale mode. EA is offering three main playlists during the event which provide a more casual multiplayer experience that is aimed at newcomers and curious players.

Across these playlists you can fight on three of the full game’s maps:

  • Siege of Cairo
  • Eastwood
  • Blackwell Fields

These maps give a taste of the variety Battlefield 6 is going for, from urban warfare to more open terrain. The idea is to let you sample the core feel of the gunplay, vehicles and objective based action without being overwhelmed by the entire catalog of maps and playlists that long time fans are chewing through.

EA is also highlighting that this slice is built as a casual multiplayer experience rather than a sweaty competitive mode. That makes it more welcoming if you are new to Battlefield or just coming back after sitting out a few games. You can expect more relaxed lobbies and a focus on learning the ropes rather than being thrown into the most hardcore ranked environment right away.

For players interested in specific modes there is a breakdown of each game type that appears in the trial. If you have seen names like Escalation and had no clue what they meant, EA has put together explanations of the rules plus some starter strategies. This is all collected in a Steam news post so you can quickly review what each mode expects from you before you queue up.

That extra guidance is especially helpful in Battlefield where playing the objective is usually more important than your kill count. Understanding when to push a control point, when to hold back and how to support your team with gadgets and vehicles can be the difference between a frustrating stomp and a satisfying win.

Progress Carryover And Sale Details

Any progress you make in Battlefield 6 during the free trial carries over if you decide to purchase the full game. That includes unlocks, level gains and general account progression tied to your EA account. You are not just starting from scratch after the week ends which makes it feel more like an early access period than a simple demo.

EA has also lined up the free trial with the first ever Steam Black Friday Sale. If the game clicks with you during the week long event you can grab it at a discount while the sale lasts. Battlefield 6 is currently reduced to 59.49 dollars, 51 pounds or 59.49 euros on Steam during this promotion window.

If you decide Battlefield 6 itself is not for you there is still a silver lining. You will already have Battlefield Redsec installed. Since Redsec is permanently free to play you can keep dropping into its battle royale matches even after the Battlefield 6 trial expires. That gives you another option to keep playing in the Battlefield universe without having to buy the full premium release.

For PC players who like to try before they buy this setup makes a lot of sense. You can install one free client, sample the traditional multiplayer across a curated set of maps and modes, and if you are into it grab the full experience at a reduced price. If not you still walk away with a free battle royale that might surprise you in its own right.

The Battlefield 6 free trial is live now, so if you are curious about its claim to be the biggest shooter of 2025 there is no better time to jump in and see how it runs on your rig, how the maps feel, and whether that modern Battlefield chaos still hits the way you want.
